Working together

What types of engagement do you take on?

Most engagements are structured as fixed-fee strategy sprints, short-term advisory retainers, or fractional CTO and technical strategy arrangements. The right format depends on the challenge — the conversation starts with understanding the problem, and the engagement structure follows from that.

How does the engagement process start?

The starting point is a strategy call. This is focused on the specific challenge, not a general introduction. If there is a clear fit, a scoped engagement follows. If not, you leave with a clearer picture of what is needed.

Do you work with clients outside the UK?

Yes. Most advisory and strategy engagements work well remotely. Time zone alignment and working cadence are discussed at the start of any engagement.

What is the minimum engagement size?

There is no fixed minimum. The engagement scales to fit the problem. Some clients start with a single strategy session to get direction on a specific challenge. Others move into longer-term advisory or fractional arrangements.

Services and scope

Do you do implementation, or only strategy and architecture?

Both. Many engagements begin with strategy and architecture work, and extend into implementation advisory or delivery oversight. Some projects involve hands-on design and build alongside the client team.

Do you work with specific technology stacks?

The architecture and strategy work is stack-agnostic. Recommendations follow from business requirements and operational context — not from tool preferences. Where implementation is involved, the stack is chosen for fit, not familiarity.

Can you work within an existing team?

Yes. Fractional and advisory engagements are designed to work alongside existing engineering and product teams, not above them. The goal is to raise decision quality and reduce architecture risk, not to introduce hierarchy.

How is AI work different from traditional systems architecture?

AI systems require design decisions that traditional architecture does not: where the model sits in the process, input quality controls, confidence thresholds, human review touchpoints, and feedback loops. The architecture thinking is similar; the operational design questions are different.

Pricing and structure

How is pricing structured?

Most engagements are fixed-fee against a defined scope. This creates clarity for both sides and avoids billing uncertainty. Ongoing retainer and fractional arrangements are structured as a monthly or quarterly commitment.

Is a discovery call free?

Yes. The initial strategy call is focused on understanding your challenge and establishing whether there is a strong fit. There is no charge for that conversation.

Do you offer equity-based or deferred payment arrangements?

In limited cases, for early-stage businesses with a specific challenge and genuine fit, alternative structures can be discussed. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
